Japanese company Shiseido has revised its procurement policy to include new environmental and human rights requirements for its suppliers
The group will now only start working with new suppliers once it completes an assessment of their business and confirms they are not high risk. Shiseido will also evaluate existing suppliers on a regular basis, it says.
Shiseido has also added sustainability into its supplier evaluation criteria and will increase business with suppliers that have solid credentials in this area.
The company will gradually start announcing the new policy to its suppliers.
