The European beauty market recorded retail sales of €72bn in 2013, while European exports came to €36.2bn for the year, according to trade association Cosmetics Europe. (Europe is defned as the 28 EU member states plus Norway and Switzerland). The EU reported sales of €69bn. The association reports that the European market remained stable in 2013 despite economic challenges, while exports rose. Germany, the region’s biggest market, saw sales of €12.90bn, followed by France with sales of €10.54bn and the UK whose sales came in at €9.94bn.
