Chanel has launched a new campaign for its N°5 fragrance featuring Australian actor and producer Margot Robbie . Called “See You at 5”, the campaign film is directed by Luca Guadagnino, director of Call Me by Your Name (2018).
The film shows Robbie driving a convertible along the road to Big Sur, California, with a man, played by fellow Australian actor Jacob Elordi on a motorbike. A series of text messages then reveal that they each inadvertently end up at the other’s house. Robbie dives into the ocean wearing a red swimsuit, which is a nod to the one worn by Carole Bouquet in Chanel’s 1986 campaign “Monuments” filmed by Ridley Scott in Utah.
Chanel says the campaign is shot in 35mm to highlight the grain of the skin. At two minutes and twenty seconds, it’s the longest ad since the first advertising films for N°5.
Elordi has starred in the series Euphoria and films including Saltburn (produced by Robbie), Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla, where he played Elvis Presley, and will be the future Frankenstein for Guillermo del Toro.
