UK-based fragrance house CPL Aromas has opened a new school in Fanivelona, a remote village in eastern Madagascar, with its partner, essential oils producer Bontoux.
CPL Aromas says the project, launched after Cyclone Batsirai destroyed the previous school, reflects its commitment to sustainability and education.
The new main building, named the CPL Aromas School of Radiance, can house 100 children who previously studied in precarious conditions, the company says.
A sustainable sanitation block has also been constructed, featuring a solar-powered pumping system, a storage tower and safe waste management—adapted to an area with no running water or electricity.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by more than 2,000 people.
