Dior opens first airport spa with Qatar Duty Free

Parfums Christian Dior President and CEO Véronique Courtois and Qatar Duty Free Senior Vice President Thabet Musleh officially launched the spa in a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 7

French brand Dior opened its first spa in an airport this week. The Dior Luxury Beauty Retreat was launched at Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar, in partnership with Qatar Duty Free.

Located near the airport’s indoor tropical garden, called Orchard, the space covers 800m2 (8,611ft2) over two levels, making it the brand’s largest spa globally.

The Dior spa is the latest in a line of first or exclusive launches of new concepts from key brands for Qatar Duty Free and is part of the company’s strategy of offering unique experiences for passengers at the airport. With such offers, the company is looking to make this mainly transit airport a destination in its own right. Hamad International Airport recently won awards for ‘World’s Best Airport’ and ‘World’s Best Airport Shopping’ for 2024 by Skytrax, the transport rating organization.

Parfums Christian Dior President and CEO Véronique Courtois and Qatar Duty Free Senior Vice President Thabet Musleh officially launched the spa in a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 7, which was attended by BW Confidential.

Luxury treatments

The spa has two entrances: One through the Dior boutique on the ground floor, and another through the Qatar Airways business lounge. It was created with materials such as wood and onyx, with the décor of the boutique space inspired by a luxury Parisian apartment.

The boutique features a selection of Dior Maison objects, the brand’s La Collection Privée fragrances and skincare. There is also a SkinScanner for personalized skin diagnosis. The Sauvage fragrance can be customized by presenting its hood in a selection of woods.

In addition, the boutique offers rare objects highlighting Dior craftmanship, the brand says. They include J’adore amphora created by architect and designer India Mahdavi, and the custom-made Miss Dior trunk, of which there are only four worldwide.

The spa area, located on the first floor, is home to eight treatment rooms, each with its own theme. They include: The Rose des Vents room with a rose quartz massage table, the Dune room with a massage table in bronze quartz and the Dior Cannage room featuring mashrabiyya latticework.

The highlight of the spa is the Constellation double treatment room, which can be privatized for a well-being stopover. It has a starry sky ceiling, private steam-room and jacuzzi.

The spa offers a range of treatments for the face and body using the L’Or de Vie and Dior Prestige lines. Escale à Doha is the signature treatment and claims to provide a feeling of re-generation after a long journey. The spa also offers Dior Skin Light, an LED mask, and a hot quartz sand bath ritual, where the body is massaged on a bed of small warm stones of quartz to detoxify.

Another first at the spa is an area for men, offering barber treatments including the Dior Luxury Barber Experience and the Dior Shave. Men can avail of a trim, shave, deep facial massage or a cleansing and hydrating treatment using the Sauvage cleanser, toner and serum.
