Dior releases documentary on L’Or de J’adore fragrance

Dior showed its Inside the Dream documentary film on the creation of its new fragrance L’Or de J’adore by perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, at the Grand Rex cinema in Paris last week at a special screening for the press and other VIPs.

Directed by Matthieu Menu, the film follows the arrival of Kurkdjian as the new creative director of perfume at Dior. It traces his process of creating the new scent, from Dior’s haute couture workshops on Avenue Montaigne in Paris to Tokyo, Japan and the fields of Madurai in India and Grasse in France.

Kurkdjian travels to Madurai for its famed jasmine flowers, while in Tokyo he participates in a Kōdō ceremony (the art of appreciating Japanese incense).

The film also presents those involved in the making of the perfume, from the picking and distillation of flowers, to the design and manufacture of the glass bottle. It also featured brand ambassador, actress Charlize Theron.

Perfume samples were given to guests at the screening to smell the different ingredients as they
were shown in the film

Exclusively for the preview screening for the press, attendees were given a booklet of six fragrance samples so they could smell each scent at the same time they were presented in the film. The moments for smelling the different scents were indicated by a logo on the left of the screen.

The scents included the original J’Adore eau de parfum and the notes of the new fragrance: Jasmine sambac, jasmine grandiflorum, rose centifolia and Japanese incense, as well as the L’Or de J’adore perfume.

The documentary will be available to stream on Canal+ from December 1.
