Global passenger traffic is expected to see a decrease of 4.6 billion travelers in 2020, while the loss in total global airport revenue is set to come in at $97bn, according to trade association Airports Council International (ACI) World.
The second quarter is set to see a loss of some 2 billion in global passenger traffic and worldwide global airport revenue losses of $39.2bn.
The forecast shows the need for government assistance for airports to preserve essential operations and protect jobs, the organization says.
