UK-based department-store group John Lewis is to cease trading internationally.

The retailer will suspend global expansion and stop its online international delivery service on December 9. The decision is part of the company’s move to focus on the UK market.

John Lewis also announced that it will extend its opening hours in the run-up to Christmas to respond to local demand. Additionally, most of its shops will be open from 9am to 5pm on Christmas Eve (December 24), but closed on Boxing Day (December 26) and New Year’s Day.
