L’Oréal USA is to open a second company headquarters in the Los Angeles area in early 2022.
The site will bring together teams from its California-based brands including Nyx Professional Makeup, Urban Decay and Pulp Riot, which are currently in three different locations. The new headquarters will also house L’Oréal’s first-ever west coast-based Professional Products Academy.
The Los Angeles headquarters will span 100,000ft2 (9,290m2) of indoor and outdoor space on a 25-acre campus transformed from an aerospace manufacturing site.
L’Oréal USA says California is s strategic market for the company and has been expanding its footprint in the state over the last decade.
L’Oréal USA president and ceo Stéphane Rinderknech said: “California has become a global stage for creativity, innovation, trends, diversity and talent in the beauty industry – and, as a result, it has become a driving force of our business.”
The new location is meant to reflect L’Oréal USA’s new hybrid working model, allowing employees to move easily between in-office and remote work. Last August, L’Oréal USA announced a permanent hybrid work approach, allowing eligible employees to work 40% of their time (two days per week) remotely each week.
The L’Oréal Professional Products Academy will offer education to the professional beauty community in Los Angeles and the US. The academy will have hair styling technique courses, skills training and certification classes.
The new headquarters is located near the Los Angeles International Airport. It complements the company’s main headquarters in New York City in Manhattan’s newly developed Hudson Yards neighborhood, which opened in 2016.
