Color consultancy Pantone has named its color of the year for 2024 as ‘Peach Fuzz.’ Pantone describes Peach Fuzz as a “velvety peach tone” that represents “our desire to nurture ourselves and others and whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body, and soul.”
“In looking for a shade that resonates with our innate need for closeness and connection, we opted for a color radiating warmth and modern elegance. A shade that calls for compassion, offers a warm embrace and naturally blends youth and timelessness,” comments Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute.
Fragrance house dsm-firmenich created a new scent inspired by the color, called Peach Fuzz Eau de Parfum. It was created by dsm-firmenich perfumers Alexandra Monet, based in New York, and Steve Guo, based in China.
The fragrance uses an ingredient developed exclusively by dsm-firmenich called Peach Fuzz Smell-The-Taste. It features top notes of bergamot and osmanthus, a heart of orris and orange blossom and a base of Vetiver Haiti and Glowing Amber.
dsm-firmenich says Peach Fuzz EdP scores an AAA rating and the candle scores an AA rating on EcoScent Compass, the company’s proprietary tool that measures a fragrance’s sustainability footprint. The scent was unveiled at the Pantone release party in New York.
Matteo Magnani, Chief Consumer & Innovation Officer, Perfumery & Beauty, at dsm-firmenich, said: “Pantone’s Color of the Year is always a great inspiration with its fresh and insightful take on current social trends, which complements our consumer and market insights […] Our perfumers created Peach Fuzz EDP using EmotiON, a breakthrough program that creates wellness fragrances, which deliver scientifically validated emotional, psychological and physical benefits.”
