AI and AR beauty company Perfect Corp has added a Facebook integration in a bid to help brands drive social commerce.
Beauty brands Lakme India and Laura Mercier (Shiseido) have partnered with Perfect Corp and Facebook to debut the virtual beauty AR Try On experience in Instagram Shops. The feature is launching first with lipsticks and additional product categories is set to launch this summer. Perfect Corp says it plans to expand to Facebook Shops in the future.
The move is described as making it easier for beauty brands to meet shoppers where they are.
Any merchant who uses Perfect Corp will be able to bring their AR experiences directly to Facebook Catalog and catalog-backed surfaces such as AR-enabled Ads and Instagram Shops as the pilot expands. Consumers can use AR shopping via various features in Instagram including in-app posts, Shops or Stories. Perfect Corp says the Facebook integration is quick and easy for brands to implement thanks to an automated Server-to-Server (S2S) integration.
The AR virtual try-ons in Instagram Shops are currently available for the Laura Mercier and Lakme India brands in Europe and India.
