Saks expands livestreaming platform for holiday season

The Saks Live platform

Luxury e-commerce platform Saks (Hudson’s Bay Company) has expanded its livestreaming platform in time for the holiday shopping season.

Called Saks Live, the platform launched earlier this year and has hosted 42 livestreams to date. Saks Live is accessible via saks.com.

Earlier this week, Saks launched a series of virtual events centered around themes related to holiday celebrations and gift-giving. The retailer will host 12 livestreams between November 2 and December 16. On November 11, Dior Beauty Global Skincare Expert Joanna Czech will host a Dior Beauty Must-Haves event, and on November 26, skincare brand La Mer will host a Holiday Gifting session.

Saks Live sessions are hosted by what the retailer calls industry insiders and provide shoppable content along with advice. Viewers can directly talk to and ask hosts questions via a chat function. All livestreams are also available to re-watch on the Saks Live platform.

In March, department-store operator Hudson’s Bay Company (HBC) split US-based department store Saks Fifth Avenue’s e-commerce and brick-and-mortar businesses into separate entities in a bid to expand its customer base in  the growing online luxury fashion market. Customers can shop Saks via its website and app. The 41 Saks Fifth Avenue stores are connected to the e-commerce platform and fulfill the physical Saks operations, like Buy Online, Pick Up In-Store, exchanges, returns and alterations.
