Saks Global replaces CEO

Saks Fifth Avenue

CEO of US-based luxury retailer Saks Global, Marc Metrick, has left the company, and has been replaced by Richard Baker.

Baker is Executive Chairman of Saks Global.

Metrick has been with Saks for almost 30 years, and led Saks Fifth Avenue from 2015.

In December 2025, it was reported that Saks Global Enterprises was preparing for a potential Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.

Saks Global has been struggling and has seen poor sales and problems with inventory. It has faced cash flow pressures, following Saks Fifth Avenue’s acquisition of rival Neiman Marcus for $2.65bn in July 2024. The company has been criticized for not paying suppliers, with some brands refusing to ship product. It has also been reported that Saks Global is considering selling a minority stake in department store Bergdorf Goodman to help pay debt from its Neiman Marcus acquisition.
