Sephora Americas to lay off some part-time and seasonal employees amid COVID-19

Sephora’s US locations will be laying off some of its part-time and seasonal store employees due to the impact of COVID-19, Sephora Americas president and ceo Jean-André Rougeot said in a statement.

The company says the employees losing their jobs have been with Sephora for a short time and work limited hours. The impacted employees have been offered severance and have been provided with resources, like coordination with companies that provide essential services and those that may be currently hiring.

Sephora’s remaining 9,000 US store employees will be paid their full salary based on average hours worked and existing health benefits until late May or until stores reopen.

Rougeot said that Sephora has implemented measures across the business and at corporate headquarters to manage costs.

As reported, Sephora Americas announced that it would temporarily close all North American locations until April 3. The stores will now remain closed without a fixed reopening date, as Sephora Americas follows guidance from public health authorities.
