The Shilla Duty Free’s Jeju downtown store has closed for a total of 10 days in April, including weekends and holidays, due to the sharp drop in tourists due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Last year, some 3,000 travelers entered Jeju Island daily through the Jeju International Airport, the company says. All international flights to and from Jeju have recently been suspended, save for the temporary Spring Airlines flight to and from China once a week.
The Jeju downtown store shortened its operating hours twice during the COVID-19 pandemic. On February 7, it reduced hours by thirty minutes. On March 12, it reduced trading by one hour. The business hours will be reviewed later after taking into account the impact of COVID-19.
The Shilla Duty Free Jeju International Airport Store has also been temporarily closing as most of the international flights to and from Jeju have been suspended.
