Social-media trends from Retail & Tech No 25

Currently trending in beauty

Compressed hyaluronic acid. Social-media users are looking for hydrating skincare products heading into the colder months. Some have suggested dissolving hyaluronic acid balls (hyaluronic acid that has been compressed into a small ball format) with another product, such as an ampoule, micellar water or a serum for extra hydration. The mix is gaining traction as it combines two predominant trends seen during lockdown: Skincare and beauty experimentation.

Micellar shampoo. These shampoos are trending across social media as users post product reviews and tutorials. The product contains cleansing molecules that cling to oils and impurities and are said to rinse them out more effectively than typical shampoo. The product’s rising popularity is part of the general trend towards deep-clean haircare routines. Typical skincare ingredients, like micellar water and hyaluronic acid, are gaining traction in haircare.

Tree Hut Shea Sugar Body Scrub. This bodycare product is currently number two on Amazon’s Beauty & Personal Care’s Most Wished For section. The product has also been an Amazon Beauty & Personal Care bestseller for weeks as TikTok users boasted about the product’s efficacy and scent. Social-media users tend to feature the product in #GRWM (get ready with me) videos and “TikTok made me buy it” posts.
