Walgreens Boots Alliance makes leadership changes

Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA) has made a string of leadership changes.

The group named Danielle Gray Executive Vice President and Global Chief Legal Officer, while Tracey Brown was named President of Retail Products and Chief Customer Officer for Walgreens. Lastly, Jeff Gruener will join Walgreens as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

Brown will report to WBA Executive Vice President and Walgreens President John Standley and is set to start at the company in November. Meanwhile, Gruener will report to WBA Executive Vice President and Global Chief Financial Officer James Kehoe and start his new position August 30.

In the newly created position of President of Retail Products and Chief Customer Officer, Brown will be responsible for the Walgreens customer experience across all touchpoints. She will also oversee Walgreens’ marketing and merchandising and be responsible for the company’s digital transformation to create integration across channels, including in-store, mobile and online.

Brown has been CEO of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) since 2018. Prior to ADA, she was US retailer Walmart/Sam’s Club Senior Vice President, Operations and Chief Experience Officer. She is credited with helping drive a double-digit increase in the company’s performance. She was also Chief Member and Marketing Officer.

Meanwhile, Gruener will be responsible for leading Walgreens’ finance organization, which represents the US segment of WBA. He previously worked at US retailer Walmart for 12 years in various financial leadership positions.
