Health and beauty retailer Watsons China (A.S. Watson Group) was ranked number one in the Beauty Retailer category as part of Mainland Chinese media YiMagazine’s 2021 Most Loved Local Brand ranking.
Every year YiMagazine asks customers to vote for their favorite brands. Some 4,000 consumers took part in this year’s poll.
The retailer credits the result to its offline plus online (O+O) strategy. Younger consumers want faster, more convenient and accessible shopping experiences, says the Chinese media outlet. With Watsons China’s O+O strategy, the retailer integrates over 4,100 offline and online platforms, allowing customers to shop across any channel at any time.
Part of the O+O experience includes offers such as MyStore, Enterprise WeChat, express delivery within an hour, Scan & Go and AR skin analysis. Watsons China describes these offers as meeting the needs of and engaging with younger shoppers.
The retailer claims it has gained deeper market penetration and seen sales volumes increase over the past three years.
Watsons China has also focused on social causes with initiatives such as its Give a Smile charity campaign, and on promoting sustainable products in addition to sustainable consumption.
