French fragrance house TechnicoFlor is expanding in Asia, with the opening of a new factory in China and in Indonesia, a new subsidiary in Vietnam and new offices in Bangkok, Thailand. The company says the expansion aims to better support local brands.

TechnicoFlor has opened a new production plant in Beautéville, known as China’s Cosmetic Valley, which brings together cosmetics companies, packaging suppliers and fragrance manufacturers.

The 9,000m2 (96,875ft2) factory will work with almost 1,000 raw materials. It aims for sales of around €5.9m this year.

Matthieu Prat, Managing Director of TechnicoFlor China, said: “While Western brands have been present in China for a long time, in recent years there has been enormous growth in the number of local brands requiring fragrances for a variety of applications: eau de toilette, candles, home fragrances, shower gels and cosmetics.”

In Indonesia, the company opened a 2,000m2 (21,527ft2) Halal-certified plant in the Karawaci area (part of the city of Tangerang, on the outskirts of Jakarta), which employs around 30 people and works with 450 raw materials. It aims to generate sales of $5m by the end of 2026 and $10m by 2028.

Jérémy Akoum, Managing Director of TechnicoFlor Indonesia, said: “The Indonesian market represents half the population of Asia outside China. Indonesians are among the world’s biggest consumers of fragrances, notably because they like highly dosed perfumes.”
