Cosmetic 360 gears up for 10th anniversary edition

The 10th edition of Cosmetic 360, the trade show devoted to innovation in beauty, will open its doors this Wednesday.

The event, which takes place at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris from October 16-17 and is organized by French industry cluster Cosmetic Valley, will welcome around 350 exhibitors (an increase on the 250 exhibitors in previous years) including 32-start-ups.

The show will be inaugurated tomorrow morning by France’s Minister of Industry, Marc Ferracci.

Commenting on the 10th anniversary of the event, Cosmetic 360 Show Director Franckie Béchereau told BW Confidential:

“On this anniversary, we remain true to our guiding principles for the trade show when it launched 10 years ago, which are: Innovation and the international business. The idea is to attract decision-makers from all over the world for two days so that they can see the best of the industry. That was our initial concept, and it has not changed. For the 10th anniversary we want to accentuate these two fundamental pillars of the show. We want to show innovation in all its forms.”

Longevity & Durability

The theme of this year’s show is ‘Longevity & Durability’. This theme covers new products and approaches in terms of delaying or reversing the signs of aging, as well as prolonging the life cycle of beauty products, packaging and equipment. It also encompasses the impact of the cosmetics industry on the environment and the need to adopt a more holistic and conscious approach to stimulating innovation.

The theme will be highlighted throughout the show, including in the animation zones, at the conferences and in the Tech Corner.

The show will also organize five ‘Innovation Challenges’ around the Longevity & Durability theme, with the participation of Chanel, Fareva, LVMH Research, P&B Group and Proya. These companies will launch a challenge for start-ups, SMEs and researchers to come up with open-source solutions for key problems facing the cosmetics industry.

Celebrating cosmetics excellence

This anniversary edition will host what the organizers call the first international competition for cosmetics excellence. Some 14 cosmetics ecosystems from five continents will compete in the contest, with each highlighting how it enables companies in the sector to innovate. Each of the 14 candidates will also have pavilions at the trade show.

Each region will present in four areas: Education, public research, its local initiatives and its savoir faire.

An opening event marking the launch of the competition will take place tonight in Paris. The winner will be announced during the trade show on Thursday October 17.

The Cosmetic 360 Awards

This year again, the show will host the Cosmetic 360 awards. The awards will recognize innovation in six categories: Raw Materials, Formulation, Testing & Analysis, Packaging & Packing, Brands & Retail and Manufacturing Process & Services. There will also be a Jury’s Favorite Award in line with the Longevity-Durability theme of the show this year.

The Awards were judged by a jury of 14 journalists, including BW Confidential Editor in Chief Oonagh Phillips.

The Cosmetic 360 Award ceremony will take place on Wednesday October 16 at 4:30pm.
