The 11th edition of Cosmetic 360, the trade show devoted to innovation in beauty, opens its doors today at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris. Running from October 15-16 and organized by French industry cluster Cosmetic Valley, the event will feature 260 exhibitors, including 36-start-ups. It expects to welcome over 5,000 visitors.
The show opens today with a debate moderated by journalist Karine Vergniol entitled “The French cosmetics industry: maintaining our position in global competition”.
An inauguration ceremony will then take place presided by Stéphane Séjourné, Executive Vice President for Prosperity and Industrial Strategy at the European Commission.
The theme of this year’s show is ‘Predictions’. The show’s organizers say the industry has entered an era of prediction, equipping itself with technologies to anticipate rather than simply react.
An eye symbol will be displayed on the map of the show to identify the highlights and areas dedicated to the Predictions theme.
Returning to this year’s show are three ‘Innovation Challenges’, with the participation of Chanel Fragrance & Beauty, LVMH Research, L’Oreal, Estee Lauder Companies, Proya Companies and TechNature. These companies will launch a challenge for start-ups, SMEs and researchers to come up with open-source solutions for key problems facing the cosmetics industry.
The Cosmetic 360 Awards
This year’s show will once again host the Cosmetic 360 awards. The awards will recognize innovation in six categories: Raw Materials, Formulation, Testing & Analysis, Packaging & Packing, Brands & Retail and Manufacturing Process. There will also be a Jury’s Favorite Award in line with the Predictions theme of the show this year.
The Awards were judged by a jury of 15 journalists, including BW Confidential Editor in Chief Oonagh Phillips.
The Cosmetic 360 Award ceremony will take place on Wednesday October 15 at 5.15pm.
