Esxence opens in Milan

The 16th edition of the Esxence Art of Perfumery event opens in Milan this morning. Taking place at the Allianz MiCo, the Milan Convention Center, this year’s edition will have an expanded show floor covering 20,000m2 (215,278ft2) – 3,000m2 (32,291ft2) more than last year.

BW Confidential is media partner of the event and will exhibit with a booth, while the May-June Magazine will be widely distributed at the show. Our journalists are on the ground to report on the latest news and trends from Esxence.

Organizers underline that there are more international exhibitors this year and that 108 brands will participate in the event for the first time.

Also new this year is a space for fragrance creation houses, with CFF by Keva Europe, Robertet, Moellhausen, EPS and Ancorotti Perfumes exhibiting.

The show will host several artistic exhibitions, including an installation by sculptor Roberto Vallini, whereby his wooden works are paired with fragrances developed in collaboration with students from the Italian Perfumery Institute (a higher education institution dedicated to the culture of perfume) and an XXL-scale installation dedicated to women and their relationship with fragrances by type artist Stefano Epis.

China’s Xuelei Fragrance Museum will also guide visitors through videos and other materials.

The International Perfume Conservatory L’Osmothèque will present an exhibition, while Imagine, the official publication of Fenapro, the Italian Federation of Perfumeries, will present the exhibition “Parole della Profumeria.”

Italian fragrance body Accademia del Profumo will present “Iris at the Root of Beauty,” created in collaboration with the Società Italiana dell’Iris and Amica, dedicated to the raw material.

There will also be a space for Cosmoprof, which will host the “Sogni di Natura” project created for the Musei Civici d’Arte Antica in Bologna, where the Italian Perfumery Institute designed an olfactory journey dedicated to one of the galleries, La Boschereccia, characterized by painted decorations.

In addition, Esxence will host a series of talks and conferences developed in collaboration with Essencional.com.

Topics include the intersection of neuroscience and artificial intelligence; the role of TikTok in communication; trends in artistic perfumery in China (including social intelligence, e-commerce, and market entry strategies); and a look at the rapidly evolving landscape of niche perfumery in South Korea, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

The President of the Asian Perfume Foundation will address the factors of research-driven perfumery in Asia, while Invest Hong Kong will share insights for companies looking to expand in the Asian market. This will be followed by a panel organized by Eternal Group, a perfume distributor in China, which will outline opportunities, regulatory barriers, and future trends in the Chinese market.

There will also be an exclusive interview with perfume expert Michael Edwards, conducted by Karen Marin of Essencional.

Esxence takes place from June 3-6.
