The MakeUp in New York trade show opens its doors today at the Javits Center in New York City, the US. The show runs from September 18-19.

The 13th edition of the show will feature 150 exhibitors, including more than 30 new international suppliers, accounting for over 20% of this year’s exhibitors.

The conference program will include sessions with companies such as Estée Lauder Companies, Goop, La Roche-Posay, Vichy, CeraVe and Victoria Beckham Beauty. Additionally, Danessa Myricks, Founder of Danessa Myricks Beauty, will deliver a keynote speech.

Ewelina Aiossa is once again the ambassador for this year’s show. Aiossa is Co-founder of Clinical Skin and has also worked for companies such as L’Oréal, Pierre Fabre Dermo-Cosmetics and Topix Pharmaceuticals.

For the second time, MakeUp in NewYork will host the Beauty Tank challenge. Some 10 skincare and make-up entrepreneurs have been selected as finalists from a pool of applicants. The entrepreneurs will pitch their projects “Shark Tank” style before a committee and audience. The initiative offers candidates exposure and potential partnerships to develop their projects.

Finally, the event’s IT Awards received 108 make-up and skincare product entries. Following an initial selection by a jury, 28 products were nominated. The winners in each category will be announced at the Awards ceremony today at 9.30am.
