The MakeUp in New York trade show opens its doors today at the Javits Center in New York City. The show runs today and tomorrow.
The 14th edition of the show will feature over 160 exhibitors from 15 countries, with new suppliers accounting for 14% of this year’s exhibitors.
The conference program will include sessions with companies such as L’Oréal, Jones Road Beauty, Coty and Symrise.
New to the show this year is the Ocean Beauty Award, which rewards innovations that harness marine resources to create natural products while preserving the ocean ecosystem. Another new addition is The Indie Bloom Hub, a space where finalists and participants of the Beauty Tank challenge can present their products and network. It includes a photo area and interview lounge.
At this year’s Beauty Tank challenge 10 skincare and make-up entrepreneurs have been selected as finalists from a pool of applicants. The entrepreneurs will pitch their projects “Shark Tank” style before a committee and audience. The initiative offers candidates exposure and potential partnerships to develop their projects.
MakeUp in NewYork has also partnered with packaging sourcing company Impacked Packaging to launch the first Official MakeUp in NewYork Lookbook, a digital showcase higlighting the most innovative packaging solutions from exhibitors. In addition, Impacked will host two daily Concierge Trend Tours, guiding attendees through a selection of exhibitor highlights.
Finally, the event’s IT Awards received 101 make-up and skincare product entries. Among the new products submitted, 21 were also competing for the Ocean Beauty Award. The jury selected 18 products as finalists for the IT Awards and five for the Ocean Beauty Award. The winners in each category will be announced at the Awards ceremony today at 12.30pm.
